First character concepts : The Goblin Bat

Im aiming for a cave dwelling creature that also has a friendly appearance, some of these sketches appear too much like bats and others appear to abstract with numerous eyes etc however I will move onto another character producing the same sort of outcome then go through this one with my tutor tomorrow :)

Character list

So now with the plan and idea in motion I now need to begin the characters so I've loosely listed some characters that I will pick 10 -15 of to take onto develop

2.       Roller Babe
3.       Gauntlet guy
4.       Woodland hunter
5.       Tank
6.       Light weight cat character
7.       Crystal warrior
8.       Bat / Goblin
9.       Fire Warrior
10.   Lighting Bug
11.   Physic Babe
12.   Common Warrior
13.   Comic Relief
14.   Tech Fighter
15.   Light weight scavenger
16.   Ninja
17.   Large animal
18.   Grunt warrior
19.   Demon
20.   Duo
21.   Dragon like beast
22.   Maniac character
23.   Potion Babe
24.   Zombie
25.   Guy with gun
26.   Farmer with tools

36.   Insect hero
37.   Radiation bug
38.   Mute and cute creature
39.   Skeleton
40.   Metal nailed girl

For the purpose of the game I wanted the characters to be as abstract or realistic as I wanted with a wide range of unique weapons and aesthetics as they are all from a multitude of worlds combined into one so the believably of say a mech solider and a woodland hunter is due to the narrative of the game

9 months to do list

To do list in relative order

So now I know what Im doing for my master I decided to make a rough checklist of what I will be producing before I can begin : -
  • Character profile sheets
  • LoL displayed and animated
  • Level Designs
  • Logo
  • Storyboarded trailer
  • Levels build in 3D
  • Enemies for characters and main boss
  • Animations for 2D characters
  • Character select screen
  • World Map
  • Rendered levels without 2D animations
  • Animated narrative intro
  • Music for levels and trailer
  • Piece together 2D and 3D animations (could take hours)
  • Add all together with music and logo to create trailer
  • Add to interactive interface allowing viewers to press a button to activate trailer
  • Make banner displaying characters
  • Place all artwork, level designs and work processes in a sketchbook for hand in

Masters plan

So in my own mind I needed to continuously summarize down my ideas and even though I feel like im repeating myself it helps put it solidly in my head so here is my idea and plan for the next nine months!
---------------------------------------------------

I will be creating a trailer for a co-op side scrolling 2D beat’em up with an animated 3D environment for the purpose of showing to companies as a pitched game idea

A dark force has crushed all the planets in a universe together to create a new dark world,
The strongest souls have been protected by the light (god basically) and told they must defeat the darkness to get there planets back!

The player will select from a small amount of characters, then play through the characters home environment, all twisted and dark, to then progress through to another players environment where they will traverse then fight the player from that environment to unlock them as playable

Once defeated the player can then select any of these characters to play as in later levels or return to old ones to use unique abilities to collect secrets

Each player will battle enemies they once would call friends due to the darkness eg woodland hunter would battle darkness controlled wolves etc

The Game
  • World level select section
  • Use player’s abilities to gather secrets
  •  USP – cash in collected secrets to unlock more levels
  • Special 3D moves
  • Defined character artstyle
  • Health, stamina bars (HUD)
  •   Unique moves for each player
The Trailer
  • League of Legends displayed characters
  •  Gameplay/level example
  • Game Logo
  • Character select screen
  •  Narrative explanation possibly animated in 2D
  •  Environmental kills
  •  8 – 12 characters
  •  9 – 13 environments
  • Music for each character
  • Intended platform release

      Possible Issues
-          Building levels and animating in 3D
-          Time consuming
-          Little knowledge of animating

A panning of the level will be recorded and animations will be added on top then all placed together for the trailer, this means there will be at least three renders of the same footage will may lead to a serious loss in image quality..

Game names
League of light fighters
Warriors of light
Light fighters and the battle of darkness
BlazeGlow
Ignition of light through the darkness
Aura Ignition : in the forboding shadow
Ignition Aura : in the closing shadow
Darkness of the fusioned worlds
Light Beam

Aura Ignition  - Aura means light and ignition means to start/beginning of something

Long time no blog..

So over Christmas I have been shafted by my "part time" job and been working 70 hour weeks to try and make money for the new year, however the masters is now back on and its time to prepare a plan for the next nine months!

Ive been thinking alot lately what my outcome for the year will be and my idea before the Christmas break was to create a series of characters and display them in a animated 2D style while also building a 3D environment to go with each character

However after several pages of idea Ive decided to mix it up a little and change my plan, so firstly I typed up my pages which I printed screened and are below, Its a mix of ideas then summarized to try and develop a new standing idea but my next blog will be a rounded off final idea
